links
This list is very preliminary and will defiantly grow as I have more time. These are just some sites that quickly come to mind.
My current homepages
www.digg.com - A fantastic social bookmarking web site.
www.slashdot.com - The best technology news/forum site around
www.lifehacker.com - Quality tips to make your life easier.
www.gmail.com - In my opinion the best free email client around. Signing up will also let you use Google Docs, Google pictures (good for backing up your photos) and many other cool things.
Open Source
www.getfirefox.com - There is nothing else to say except Firefox will make your internet experience safer, faster and cleaner! (u can use the picture link on these pages as well)
www.getthunderbird.com - An alternative to Outlook. Its faster and simpler...and free!
http://sourceforge.net/ - The 'yellow pages' of open source software.
Good Blogs
www.boing.boing.com - A Directory of Wonderful Things
www.wired.com - Popular tech mag (which i also highly recommend) also has a good web site!
www.jeremy-smith.com - My blog!
http://gizmodo.com/ - Another tech blog
http://www.engadget.com/ - a gadget oriented blog
http://www.greentechnolog.com/ - If you are into saving the earth without chaining yourself to bulldozers and trees, check out this site.
Procrastation
www.video.stumbleupon.com - WARNING - you will waste hours and hours watching very entertaining videos on this site.
www.stumbleupon.com - The parent of the above link - This is a firefox extension that you use to 'stumble' onto popular web sites as voted by the community. A really good web2.0ish plugin!
www.ytmnd.com - The site that pretty much starts all the internet crazes
www.wwtdd.com - If you like the world of celeberitybitcheyness have a look at this site, it will not disappoint.
Software
http://www.personalfirewall.comodo.com/ - A free firewall that I believe beats almost all commercial ones! Hasn't let me down yet.
http://picasa.google.com/ - Great free photo management tool that can integrate into your GMail account to upload your photos to the web. This way, all your photos are stored somewhere in California on a set of RAID servers - just incase your house burns down.
http://free.grisoft.com/freeweb.php/doc/2/ - A free virus checker is better than no virus checker!
